How to Open Your Third Eye: What Worked for Me

A simple search on the internet will deliver a thousand articles, videos and social media posts on how to open your third eye.


As with all my material, I can only draw upon what did and didn't work for me which is why I am passionate about sharing my experiences with you. I thoroughly believe that you have to find ways which work for you.


I have read books upon books on spiritual development and tried literally thousands of techniques with just a few that I found worked for me personally. So please bear this in mind as you progress on your spiritual journey.


I am not going to go into what the third eye is in this article, as you are here, I guess you probably already know, so let's get into the fun stuff.


Acceptance - The first part is to accept that you are a spiritual being having a human experience. It is also important to accept in your heart that you have a third eye which connects you to your true self. Park the critical mind, and accept that you are this fantastically powerful being having a temporary human experience. Without this first step, there is no way you will be able to open your third eye.


Consumption - What do you eat? Are you drinking a lot of soda? Do you drink a lot of alcohol? I am by no means saying these things are bad, but you need to become mindful of what you are consuming. Ideally non fluoridated water is best but tea, decaf coffee and all these other drinks are fine by me. I personally cut out soda, alcohol, and meat. For now I do still eat fish, but I felt it necessary to cut out meat as I couldn't consume animals for any longer. I am not a vegan, and you don't need to become a vegan in my opinion, but just be mindful of the energies you are consuming as this can affect your spiritual development in the long run. Remember, EVERYTHING IS ENERGY. Increase the fruit and vegetables you are eating too and try drinking turmeric tea in the morning. I add a teaspoon of turmeric to boiling water with a teaspoon of honey to take the edge off.


Meditation - The one meditation that seemed to work wonders for me was to sit comfortably with my eyes closed. Take ten deep breaths in and out and completely relax your body. Then, with every breath in, envision a bright golden light entering through your heart chakra, flowing up an internal tube into your forehead then as you breathe out, imagine this light bursting out of your forehead into the world in front of you. Do this ten times every day. Please do remember to ground afterwards as you might be bouncing off the ceiling. To ground. Imagine all your chakras as closed flowers, then envision roots growing out from the bottom of your feet deep into the ground. Then finally, envision a golden bubble of protection enveloping your entire being. Grounding takes just a minute to do, please do not skip it.


Detachment - Start seeing things as they really are. Don't attach to possessions or circumstances too much. Just become a conscious observer. This doesn't mean that you have to go live up a mountain dressed in a sheet. You can still live here in the system as it is and go to work as normal, but with the realization that everything is just an illusion, a grand play playing out before your eyes. Hold steady, try and stay relaxed. Stress and anxiety help to close your third eye, not open it. Why do you think we are bombarded with bad news everyday? Relax and detach from it all. Stop watching the news, spend less time on social media, and see how you feel after a few weeks. Try to avoid anything that will stress you out. If you can't, breathe and remind yourself to stay calm. Also spend some time in nature, whether its a walk in the park, or sitting near the sea. Just spend some time to reflect on the sheer beauty of our planet.
